About the Suzuki VZ 1600
The Suzuki VZ1600 Marauder (marketed as the Boulevard M95 in some markets) is a large cruiser powered by an air-cooled 1553 cc V-twin. Produced from 2004 to 2005, the VZ1600 was the biggest and most powerful Marauder Suzuki ever built. The pushrod V-twin engine shares its lineage with the smaller Marauders and delivers torque low in the rev range for a relaxed riding style. The long wheelbase, low seat, and extended front fork give it a pronounced chopper-style look.
The VZ1600 is aimed at riders wanting maximum cruiser presence with a Japanese badge. The low seat height of around 720 mm is accessible, and the low-end torque is comfortable at slow urban speeds. Its short production run (2 years) means it is relatively rare on the used market. It competes with the Yamaha Road Star 1600 and Honda VTX1300.

What to check before buying
- Check the carburettors for synchronisation and fuel leaks; the two Mikuni carbs can develop leaks after years of use.
- Inspect cooling fin passages for blockages; the air-cooled engine can run hot in slow traffic.
- Check the primary chain and drive for wear; the pushrod engine requires correct fluid levels and periodic drive inspection.
- Inspect chrome components for rust and pitting; large cruisers with extensive chrome are susceptible to moisture damage.
- Check the battery condition and capacity; the heavy machine needs a strong battery and often sits unused for extended periods.
