Years2022–present
From 2022 the MP3 300 gained sharper bodywork, keyless operation and updated electronics. The 278 cc HPE engine remained while the body and user interface changed clearly.

Years2018–2021
The HPE update brought more power, improved injection and newer lighting while retaining the compact MP3 layout. Look for HPE in the model designation because import years can overlap.

Years2011–2017
The early 300 is the more compact Yourban version with a 278 cc engine, smaller body and lower weight than the 400/500. Its narrow rear body and Yourban badge are distinctive.

The Piaggio MP3 300 is Piaggio's mid-range three-wheeled scooter with two independently tilting front wheels, in production since 2010. The 278 cc four-stroke single-cylinder engine with CVT automatic delivers enough power for city traffic and secondary roads, while the three wheels add grip on wet streets, tram tracks and slippery cobbled squares. The integrated tilt-lock keeps the scooter upright at standstill without the rider putting a foot down, which is a real bonus in stop-and-go commuter traffic.
Thanks to its lower weight and modest power compared to the 500, the MP3 300 is primarily a city commuter. Direct rivals are conventional 300 cc maxi-scooters such as the Honda Forza 300 and Yamaha XMAX 300, but the three wheels give it a clear edge in confidence on poor surfaces. Under earlier Dutch rules a qualified B-licence holder could ride the older MP3 300-LT (especially in sport-bar trim) without a motorcycle licence, which made it popular with older car drivers. Expect roomy underseat storage, an upright riding position and decent wind protection from the front fairing.
Verify the tilt-lock engages and releases smoothly; hesitation indicates wear in the hydraulic locking units.
Inspect the tilting linkage bushes and pivots for play, particularly on high-mileage urban examples.
Confirm V-belt and variator roller replacement history; vibration or sluggish acceleration signals overdue service.
Check the exhaust and chassis fasteners for rust; zinc-plated parts corrode quickly in Dutch winters.
Test the immobiliser, alarm and dashboard wiring; electrical gremlins are common on early production runs.
