About the Piaggio Beverly 300
The Piaggio Beverly 300 is a large-wheel touring scooter with a liquid-cooled 278 cc four-stroke single, automatic CVT and the trademark 16-inch front wheel that has defined the Beverly line since its inception. The 300 version arrived in 2010 and was later updated as the Beverly 300 i.e. and Beverly 300 hpe. With around 22 hp it offers easy motorway capability without the extra weight of the larger Beverly 350 or 400.
The Beverly 300 targets commuters and weekend riders who want big-wheel stability combined with practical scooter packaging. A full-face helmet fits under the seat, the step-through is low and the riding position is upright with generous legroom. The 16-inch front wheel rolls calmly over rough surfaces and tram rails, a clear advantage over small-wheel scooters. The trade-off is that the Beverly 300 is longer and heavier than a typical 300 cc scooter, which makes manoeuvring in tight parking spots slightly more demanding.

What to check before buying
- Inspect the variator rollers, CVT belt and clutch shoes; heavy urban use wears them faster than expected.
- Check the water pump for leaks and the coolant level; overheating quickly damages the cylinder head.
- Look for play in the steering head and rear swingarm bearings: the larger wheels and weight loosen them faster than on smaller scooters.
- Confirm the ABS and injection warning lights extinguish after start-up; sensor faults are not unusual.
- Check the plastic clips around the seat lock and bodywork panels; they break with age.
