Years
2025 - present
The newest RC 390 uses the 399 cc LC4c single with slightly more power and torque. Check displacement in the advert because early registrations can look very similar to the previous generation.
Years
2022 - 2024
The all-new RC gained a 13.7-litre tank, single LED headlight, lighter wheels and less extreme ergonomics. The engine remained 373 cc but gained torque.
Years
2017 - 2021
The Euro 4 update gained ride-by-wire, a side exhaust, larger front disc and small ergonomic improvements. Shape and 10-litre tank remained broadly similar to the first generation.
Years
2014 - 2016
The first RC 390 has twin projector-style headlights, a slim 10-litre tank and aggressive clip-ons. Its 373 cc single delivers A2 performance in a light sports chassis.
The KTM RC 390 is the faired sport version of the 390 platform, built in India by Bajaj for worldwide export since 2014. Beneath the sharply styled full fairing sits the same 373 cc single as in the 390 Duke, tuned here for 44 hp and 37 Nm with a high-revving character. A lightweight steel trellis frame (about 165 kg wet), upside-down WP forks, a four-piston ByBre front caliper and standard ABS deliver a riding experience that comes surprisingly close to a true supersport. The 2022 overhaul brought a new frame, swingarm, TFT display and ride-by-wire throttle.
The target rider is the A2-licence holder, novice or trackday enthusiast looking for maximum sport feel without heavy power. Razor-sharp handling and a low 824 mm seat make it ideal for racing schools and short, twisty routes. Motorway and two-up comfort is limited: aggressive stance, high pegs and a small 13.7-litre tank. Direct rivals are the Yamaha YZF-R3, Kawasaki Ninja 400, Honda CBR500R and Aprilia RS 457. As a used buy it offers an accessible entry into the sport segment, supported by a strong global parts network via the Bajaj platform.
