About the Gasgas EC 300
The GASGAS EC 300 is a two-stroke enduro from Spanish brand GASGAS (part of the KTM Group since 2019), produced across several generations from the 1990s to the present. The engine is a 293 cc (nominally 300 cc) air-cooled two-stroke single-cylinder delivering approximately 50-55 hp in current form, impressive for a dry weight of around 100 kg. The EC 300 is renowned for its wide powerband, outstanding power-to-weight ratio, and robust GASGAS chassis geometry with WP suspension.
The EC 300 targets experienced and professional enduro riders who demand maximum performance on challenging terrain: rocky trails, mud, and steep climbs. It is too demanding for beginners. The two-stroke nature requires regular engine rebuilds (piston rings, cylinder bore). Direct rivals are the KTM 300 EXC and Husqvarna TE 300. As an enduro competition mount the EC 300 has been among the most respected choices in its class for decades.

What to check before buying
- Check piston condition and cylinder bore size; two-strokes require more frequent engine rebuilds than four-strokes; ask for rebuild records.
- Inspect the reed valve for wear or damage; a broken reed causes immediate engine damage.
- Check the WP forks for oil seeping and correct setup: enduro riders run hard settings and rebuilds are expensive.
- Examine the exhaust port and silencer for carbon build-up; a clogged port causes significant power loss.
- Check gearbox oil for metal particles: two-stroke gearboxes wear faster under intensive use.
