The Honda SH150i is a premium maxi-scooter that has been among the most popular choices in its segment across Europe for over two decades. At its heart is a 149 cc single-cylinder eSP (Enhanced Smart Power) engine with automatic CVT transmission, delivering frugal consumption of around 30 km/l and minimal maintenance requirements. The bodywork combines a wide, comfortable seat with generous underseat storage and a large windscreen. From 2020, the SH150i received a completely new platform with increased power, an improved undercarriage, and riding mode selection (Sport/City).
The SH150i attracts business-oriented commuters who ride daily in urban traffic and occasionally need the motorway. A comfortable seat height of approximately 790 mm suits a broad range of riders. Competitors include the Yamaha XMAX 125/150, Kymco AK 550, and Piaggio Beverly 150. Honda's reliability reputation and wide dealer network in the Netherlands are strong advantages at resale.
Check the CVT drive belt for wear; replacement is cheap but often deferred, which can cause damage to the variator.
Check the ABS wheel-speed sensor for correct function; faults show up as an ABS warning light that won't reset.
Check the underseat storage hinge for corrosion on bikes stored outdoors regularly.
Check the steering for play in the headstock bearing; a common finding on scooters with higher mileage.
