About the Honda NSR 250
The Honda NSR-250 is a 250cc two-stroke V-twin sports bike, produced from 1986 to 1999. The NSR-250R was sold primarily in Japan and was relatively rare in Europe. The engine produces up to 45 hp in street trim, with technology derived directly from Honda's 250cc GP racers. Weighing just 149 kg and with a high-revving two-stroke character, the NSR-250 was an exceptionally agile sports bike that was ahead of its time.
The NSR-250 appeals to experienced sports riders with a passion for two-stroke technology and classic motorcycling. It demands regular maintenance and a deliberate riding style. The aggressive riding position and outstanding cornering speed made it popular on both public roads and the track. Today the NSR-250 is a sought-after collector's item. Competitors were the Yamaha TZR-250 and Suzuki RGV-250.

What to check before buying
- Check pistons and rings for wear; two-stroke V-twins require regular rebuilds under normal use.
- Inspect exhaust power valves (ATAC) for seized or damaged blades; faulty valves significantly reduce power output.
- Check both crankshaft seals for leaks; a failure here is expensive and time-consuming to repair.
- Examine the radiator and coolant hoses for leaks; the liquid cooling system requires periodic coolant replacement.
- Verify that the engine number and VIN match the registration documents; the NSR-250 is desirable and tampered frames do circulate.
