The Honda Fireblade (CBR900RR/CBR1000RR) is an iconic supersport motorcycle that revolutionised the market in 1992 by combining unprecedented power with a lightweight chassis. The liquid-cooled inline-four started at 893cc and grew through the generations to 954cc and eventually 998cc, with power outputs reaching over 180 hp in later versions. Honda's 'Total Control' philosophy was central to every iteration: the Fireblade should feel like a natural extension of the rider.
The Fireblade targets experienced riders who want to combine everyday usability with serious track performance. Its compact dimensions, excellent weight distribution, and progressive electronic rider aids in newer generations make it more versatile than many pure race replicas. Second-hand early-generation models (SC28–SC44) are popular with enthusiasts and relatively affordable; the newer SC77 generation brings MotoGP-derived technology to public roads.
Check the engine for oil leaks and chain/sprocket wear, especially on examples with over 30,000 km.
Check the front forks and rear shock absorber for leaking seals and degraded damper fluid.
Check that rider aids (ABS, traction control) function correctly on newer generation models.
Check the cooling system for leaking hoses and a fouled expansion tank at higher mileages.
Check the exhaust system for rust and damage, as original systems are expensive to replace.
