GenerationThe Jogging is a 49cc Mofa with Sachs 505/2, pedal start and two-speed gearbox. Verify type 516 and original restriction before assessing it as a moped.
About the Hercules Jogging
The Hercules Jogging is a light 1980s Mofa built around an air-cooled Sachs 505/2 two-stroke with pedal start and a two-speed hand gearbox. Its tank-tube structure, compact size and low restricted speed make it very different from a modern scooter. Verify type 516, year and the original colour/component combination before accepting restoration claims.
For a buyer, a complete original Jogging is more attractive than a tuned moped. The engineering is straightforward, but storage damages the carburettor, seals, contact ignition and brakes. Choose one that cold-starts, shifts properly and has a complete loom; non-original cylinder or exhaust parts complicate registration and parts matching.

What to check before buying
- Verify the type plate, frame number and type 516 before assigning year or original colour scheme.
- Check the Sachs 505/2, carburettor, seals and 1:50 premix for cold starting, compression and stable hot running.
- Test hand shifting, clutch, chain and sprockets under load and look for tuned cylinder or exhaust parts.
- Check Bosch contact ignition, 6V charging, lights and loom for corrosion and poor earths.
- Inspect tank-tube frame, fork, rear shocks, drum brakes and wheels for corrosion, play or crash damage.
