About the Harley Davidson Heritage
The Harley-Davidson Heritage is the nostalgic classic in the Softail family. Introduced in 1986 as the FLST/FLSTC, it carries a fork-mounted bullet headlight, studded twin saddle, rounded tank and traditional valanced fenders. The Heritage Classic later added standard saddlebags and a windshield, and Harley has used the Heritage name across variants such as Heritage Softail Classic, Heritage Softail Nostalgia and from 2018 onwards the FLHC with Milwaukee-Eight 107 or 114. The Big Twin engines have run from Evolution through Twin Cam to Milwaukee-Eight, all in a softail chassis with hidden rear shock.
The Heritage targets the touring rider who wants 1950s styling with modern comfort. Standard saddlebags, windshield and a larger tank (18-19 litres) make it more suited to longer trips than a Fat Boy or Street Bob. Direct rivals are the Indian Vintage and Triumph Bonneville Speedmaster. At around 320 kg curb and a low 665-680 mm seat it is manageable in town but not light. Many Dutch examples carry extra chrome or alternative bars; verify the original spec against the VIN before buying.
