Years2006–2010
The late FXD/FXDC uses the 1584cc Twin Cam 96 and six-speed gearbox. An advertisement without a verified year or 1584cc reference is deliberately not linked to this generation on the Super Glide Custom name alone.

Years1999–2005
The Twin Cam 88 brings 1450cc and more torque, but at higher mileage its cam-chain tensioners require explicit attention. A Super Glide Custom belongs in this row only when year and engine capacity confirm it.
1,449 cc · 67 hp · 2 cyl.
The Harley-Davidson Dyna Super Glide is the straightforward FXD cruiser in the Dyna platform, with visible twin rear shocks and a rubber-mounted V-twin. The name ran from 1991 to 2010, but the mechanical package changed substantially: early FXDs use the 1340cc Evolution engine, the 1450cc Twin Cam 88 arrived in 1999, and the 1584cc Twin Cam 96 followed from 2006. A Super Glide Custom is a derivative trim, not a separate engine family.
The FXD appeals to riders wanting a classic Harley without touring-bike mass. Its relaxed position and custom potential make original condition and the quality of accessory work especially important. Never compare Dyna Super Glide advertisements by name alone: the model year and, ideally, the FXD/FXDC code reveal the engine, five- or six-speed gearbox, injection and brake package.
For Twin Cam 88 models, check service history for cam-chain tensioners; wear before replacement can lead to major engine damage.
Inspect rubber engine mounts and stabiliser links for cracking or play; worn parts add vibration and unsettled handling.
Check the primary case, gearbox and crankcases for leaks and ask for evidence of oil-service intervals.
Inspect rear shocks, head bearings and wheel bearings; many FXDs have been lowered or modified without suitable components.
Check wiring, charging voltage and aftermarket exhaust/fuelling carefully, particularly on heavily customised Super Glide Customs.
