Years
2011 - 2011
The 1198 SP replaced the S as the top 2011 trim with Öhlins, slipper clutch and race-focused setup. Match SP only with explicit identification and inspect clutch, Öhlins rebuilds and original electronic equipment.
Years
2011 - 2011
For 2011 the standard 1198 remained the road base while the S was replaced by the SP. Verify model year carefully on a late bike; equipment and slipper clutch distinguish a genuine SP from a standard 1198.
Years
2009 - 2010
The 1198 S is the higher-spec early 1198 with Öhlins suspension and lighter components. It is a trim of the same 1,198cc family; check damper service history and original S specification before purchase.
Years
2009 - 2010
The standard 1198 is the 1,198cc Testastretta superbike with single-sided swingarm and Ducati Traction Control. It forms the basis of the range; inspect belts, desmo service, water pump and frame/subframe for track or crash damage.
The Ducati 1198 is an Italian superbike rooted in the iconic 916 lineage. It is powered by an L-twin Testastretta engine of 1198 cc with desmodromic valve actuation, producing 163 hp. Built from 2009 to 2011, it was the flagship of Ducati's superbike range before the Panigale era arrived. At around 168 kg dry, the power-to-weight ratio rivals the best inline-four litre-class bikes, delivering an intensely direct connection between rider and road.
The 1198 is aimed squarely at experienced riders who accept no compromise on dynamics. The half-fairing clip-on setup creates an aggressive forward-leaning riding position that rewards cornering precision but becomes taxing on long highway stints. It competes directly with the Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade and Suzuki GSX-R1000 of the same era. The 1198 S adds Öhlins suspension and upgraded Brembo brakes, while the limited 1198 SP brings fully adjustable riding modes and a slipper clutch.
A used Ducati 1198 costs €12,990 on average. Most cost €10,770 to €14,168. This is based on 7 motorcycles for sale now.
