About the Harley Davidson Tri Glide Ultra
The Harley-Davidson Tri Glide Ultra (FLHTCUTG) is Harley's fully equipped touring trike, introduced in 2009. Built on the Touring platform with two rear wheels and a fixed rear trunk plus two side cases, all hard-mounted. The Milwaukee-Eight 107 or 114 V-twin (or Twin Cam 103/110 in early versions) delivers more than adequate power. Standard equipment includes Harman Kardon audio, navigation, ride modes, cruise control, and a hydraulic clutch.
The Tri Glide Ultra is aimed at riders who demand maximum riding comfort and luggage capacity, including on long-distance trips, without sacrificing style. In some EU countries no motorcycle licence is required (trike regulations vary). Its weight of over 500 kg demands attention in tight parking situations. Competes with the Can-Am Spyder F3-T and Honda Gold Wing Tour as the ultimate touring choice.

What to check before buying
- Check the IRS rear axle and ball joints for play; wear here causes noticeable instability at higher speeds.
- Inspect both rear wheel brake installations for even pad wear; asymmetric braking force is a safety concern on a vehicle weighing 500 kg.
- Examine the fixed rear trunk for water ingress; hinge and seal condition deteriorates over time and damp luggage is a common complaint.
- Check the Milwaukee-Eight or Twin Cam for operating temperature in urban traffic; limited airflow at low speeds is a recurring concern.
- Ask about infotainment system condition: outdated navigation and old Bluetooth on older examples can significantly detract from the riding experience.
