About the Cagiva Raptor 1000
The Cagiva Raptor 1000 is a liquid-cooled 996 cc V-twin naked sportbike produced by Cagiva from 2000 to approximately 2005. The motorcycle shares its engine block with the Suzuki TL1000S but is housed in a Cagiva-designed aluminium frame with aggressively futuristic styling by Miguel Galluzzi. With 111 hp, the Raptor 1000 delivered powerful performance in a compact, lightweight naked package.
The Cagiva Raptor 1000 is aimed at sporty riders with an eye for Italian design. It is not suitable for beginners due to the high torque, quick steering response, and limited wind protection. Winding roads and city riding are its natural environment. Comparable bikes include the Ducati Monster 1000 and the Aprilia Tuono.

What to check before buying
- Check the Suzuki TL1000 engine for oil leaks at the cylinder head bolts; the Suzuki engine block is prone to oil seepage with age.
- Inspect the rotary rear damper for operation; the TL1000 rear suspension setup is a known issue and replacement parts are hard to find.
- Check the Marelli injection for fault codes; the V-twin engine is susceptible to throttle position sensor problems.
- Look for corrosion at aluminium frame joints; Cagiva frames are vulnerable to galvanic corrosion when neglected.
- Check the availability of Cagiva-specific parts; the brand no longer exists and many parts must be sourced via Suzuki TL1000 channels or specialists.
