The Buell XB9 is an American naked/sport motorcycle powered by a 984 cc air-cooled V-twin engine derived from the Harley-Davidson Sportster unit, produced from 2003 to 2010. The XB9 was offered as the XB9S Lightning (naked) and XB9R Firebolt (half-faired). All XB models share the fuel-in-frame concept using the aluminium perimeter frame as the fuel tank, and oil stored in the swingarm, a mass-centralisation approach unique in the industry. The ZTL brake disc mounted directly on the hub eliminates deflection forces.
The XB9 targets riders who want a compact, characterful sporting motorcycle with American V-twin sound. The riding position is relaxed but sporting.
