About the Bmw S 1000 R
The BMW S 1000 R is the naked sibling of the S 1000 RR superbike. Launched in 2014 with 160 hp from a 999 cc inline-four, it was rebuilt for 2021 (code K63) with 165 hp, a lighter bridge frame, shorter swingarm and a 6.5-inch TFT dashboard. Riding modes, ABS Pro and ASC are standard; option packs add Dynamic Damping Control and a Quickshifter Pro with blipper.
The S 1000 R targets experienced riders who want circuit-grade performance without the wrist-loading ergonomics of a full-fairing supersport. At around 199 kg wet and a 830 mm seat height, it feels agile, and the flatter torque curve makes it more accessible than a stripped-down four. Main rivals are the Aprilia Tuono V4, KTM 1290 Super Duke R and Kawasaki Z H2. On the Dutch used market it sells well below a new RR, provided you can find one with the right packages (M wheels, Dynamic Pro).
