Years2024–present
The regular M 1000 XR combines the 148kW ShiftCam inline-four with XR ergonomics, M brakes and electronically controlled suspension. The base remains the same regardless of colour or individual accessories.

The BMW M 1000 XR is the M-line sport crossover with a 999cc ShiftCam inline-four producing 148 kW and 113 Nm. It combines tall XR ergonomics, a 20-litre tank and long-distance protection with winglets, M brakes and track-oriented electronics. It is not a conventional off-road adventure bike, but a very fast tarmac-focused crossover for experienced riders.
From 2024 there is one technical M 1000 XR generation. The optional M Competition package uses carbon parts and carbon wheels among other equipment and, according to BMW, saves about three kilograms, but it does not change engine output or capacity. Competition is therefore selected only from an explicit source designation; an Akrapovic, M colour or loose carbon accessory is insufficient.
Inspect winglets, carbon wheels and carbon panels for impact damage; minor damage can be expensive on these parts.
Test Dynamic ESA, DDC, ABS Pro, DTC and all Race Pro functions, and have recurring warnings read out.
Inspect brakes, tyres and wheel rims for heat or track use, and verify the correct 120/70 and 200/55 tyre sizes.
Check chain, sprockets and quickshifter for consistent shifting; high load and short gearing make wear apparent.
Verify an M Competition package from BMW option list or dealer evidence; loose carbon or exhaust parts are not reliable trim identity.
