EditionCompetition is the explicit factory option package with performance and carbon components. Engine base and 154kW rating remain the same as the standard M 1000 R; only an explicit Competition designation may select this row.

2023–heden M 1000 R
GenerationThe regular M 1000 R has the 999cc ShiftCam inline-four, winglets, M brakes and race-oriented electronics. Options do not change output; without exact Competition evidence this remains the correct technical reference.
About the Bmw M 1000 R
The BMW M 1000 R is the M hyper-roadster with an oil/water-cooled 999cc ShiftCam inline-four producing 154 kW and 113 Nm. It combines short, upright naked ergonomics with race electronics, winglets, M brakes and a top speed of around 280 km/h. It is for experienced riders: extensive electronics increase the margin but do not replace riding skill or tyre and brake discipline.
From 2023 there is one technical M 1000 R generation. The M Competition package is an explicitly named factory option package including carbon components; it does not change the 999cc engine or nominal output. Competition therefore receives a separate row only where that name is explicit in the source. Carbon, Akrapovic or M colour in free text alone is insufficient evidence for a Competition trim.

What to check before buying
- Inspect all winglets, carbon parts and mounts for cracks or drop damage; replacement is costly and not merely cosmetic.
- Test ABS Pro, DTC, ride modes, launch control and TFT display, and have persistent warnings read with BMW diagnostics.
- Inspect discs, pads, brake fluid and tyres for track or heat stress; high performance requires frequent checks.
- Check chain, sprockets, rear-wheel alignment and quickshifter for smooth operation under both low and high load.
- Confirm a Competition package from the original option list or dealer history; loose carbon accessories do not prove that trim.
