About the Bmw CE 04
The BMW CE 04 is an electric maxi-scooter launched by BMW Motorrad in 2022. The electric motor produces 31 kW (42 hp) continuous and 42 kW peak, with 62 Nm of torque available virtually instantaneously. The 8.9 kWh battery offers a practical range of approximately 90-100 kilometres per charge. The futuristic flat design with no conventional engine block houses the battery and drivetrain in the scooter floor. Standard equipment includes emergency eCall, a large TFT colour display, and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto integration.
The CE 04 targets urban commuters seeking a stylish, silent, low-maintenance alternative to petrol scooters. Its low centre of gravity, instant traction, and compact dimensions make it particularly well suited to city traffic. Charging via Type 2 AC (3.5 kW standard, 6.9 kW optional) takes four to five hours; DC fast charging is not available. Competitors include the Silence S01 and the Zero SR.

What to check before buying
- Check battery health via the BMW Motorrad Connected app; a significant capacity drop at low mileage suggests a faulty battery pack.
- Ask about charging history: regular full-charge and full-discharge cycles accelerate battery degradation.
- Check the charging port for damage and ensure the Type 2 charging cable seats securely.
- Inspect the brakes for wear; regenerative braking spares the discs but system integration requires periodic calibration.
- Check the TFT display for screen retention; early examples occasionally showed display issues after firmware updates.
