About the Vespa GTV 300
The Vespa GTV 300 is the retro-sport variant of the GTS platform, identifiable by its low handlebar, the headlight mounted on the front fender and the brown or black solo saddle. Beneath the pressed-steel monocoque sits the familiar 278 cc i-get four-stroke with liquid cooling and four valves, producing 17 kW and a top speed around 122 km/h. ABS and traction control are standard.
The GTV targets riders who want modern GTS engineering paired with the styling of the original 1950s Vespa GS. The solo saddle and slightly lower bar deliver a sportier riding position, at the expense of luggage space and pillion comfort. The 12-inch wheels and telescopic front fork keep the bike agile in city traffic, while the 300 cc engine cruises comfortably at motorway speeds. The GTV has few direct competitors and is best understood as a design statement within the scooter market.

What to check before buying
- Check the stator on the i-get engine; early 300 cc units are prone to winding failures.
- Inspect the monocoque around the seat and luggage well for rust, particularly on units stored outside.
- Ask for proof of valve clearance service (10,000 km interval) and variator service history.
- Test ABS operation; the front wheel speed sensor harness oxidises and can throw fault codes.
- Check the fender-mounted headlight; the mount and wiring loom wear from vibration over time.
