About the Suzuki VL 250
The Suzuki VL 250 is a compact cruiser with a liquid-cooled 249cc V-twin, low seat and relaxed ergonomics. It was sold as the Intruder 250 in various markets and is intended as an approachable custom for town riding and easy back roads. Its low seat height and predictable engine make it less intimidating than larger cruisers without losing V-twin character.
For new riders or anyone seeking a light custom, the VL 250 is attractive mainly for its manageability. Do not expect strong motorway reserves; buy it for its style and calm manners. On a used bike, check carburation or injection according to year, chrome and exhaust for corrosion, and normal chain and brake wear. An original bike without excessive modifications is generally easiest to maintain.

What to check before buying
- Check cold starting and idle for smooth response; stale fuel or dirty carburettors often cause problems.
- Inspect chrome, exhaust headers and mountings for corrosion, especially on a bike stored outside.
- Check chain, sprockets and rear-wheel bearings for wear or poor lubrication.
- Test charging voltage, lighting and indicators, and inspect steering-head wiring for damage.
- Check fork seals, brakes and tyres for age-related wear even where mileage is low.
