MP3 310

The Piaggio MP3 310 is a variant of the original MP3 300 three-wheeler sold between 2010 and 2018. The 278 cc Quasar four-stroke single-cylinder engine with four valves and CVT automatic produces around 22 hp and reaches the road via two independently tilting front wheels. This front-wheel layout gives the trike considerably more grip than a conventional scooter on wet surfaces, tram tracks and during sudden steering corrections, while the tilt-lock keeps the scooter upright at standstill so the rider doesn't need to put a foot down.

The MP3 310 targets city commuters who want the security of three wheels without the higher price and weight of the 500. Under the Dutch LT regulation a qualified car-licence holder could ride the MP3 300 LT (with sport handlebars) without a motorcycle licence, which made it popular with older drivers. Period rivals were the Yamaha Tricity 300 (later) and conventional maxi-scooters Honda Forza 300 and Yamaha XMAX 300. Expect an upright riding position, generous underseat storage and good wind protection. Not the fastest on the motorway, but excellent in city traffic.
