About the Piaggio 300 S
The Piaggio Beverly 300 S is the sport variant of the Beverly 300 and was sold between 2010 and 2017. The 278 cc Quasar four-stroke single-cylinder engine with four valves drives through a CVT automatic, produces around 22 hp and targets city commuters who want more riding dynamics than the standard Beverly. The 300 S sets itself apart with black sport bodywork, dark-painted wheels, a sportier handlebar position and firmer suspension settings. Like the other Beverlys it keeps the signature 16-inch front wheel, which makes it more stable on tram tracks and concrete gutters than a typical 14-inch maxi-scooter.
The Beverly 300 S targets commuters and city riders who want an Italian maxi-scooter with a sportier character than the Honda SH300i or Yamaha XMAX 300. Direct rivals are the XMAX 300 and the Suzuki Burgman 200/400. With its upright posture, wide saddle and small windscreen it suits city and B-road work, and is comfortable on the motorway at a 130 km/h cruise. Thanks to a competitive used-market price and the robust 278 cc engine it remains an attractive second-hand option.

What to check before buying
- Check CVT rollers, V-belt and clutch shoes; ask for the service receipts, particularly at higher mileage
- Inspect the exhaust silencer and heat shields for corrosion; a known Beverly weak spot
- Look at the wear pattern around the helmet box and side panels; latch and hinges wear over time
- Check the ABS sensors around the wheels for grime build-up and a clean signal response
- Inspect the side stand and battery tray for zinc-plating decay and surface rust
