About the Mv Agusta Brutale 750
The MV Agusta Brutale 750 is the original Brutale: penned in 2001 by Massimo Tamburini as a naked spin-off of the F4 superbike, sharing its 749 cc radial four and steel trellis frame. Under the short tank sat a 16-valve DOHC powerplant making roughly 127 hp, a hot output for a naked of its generation. The 750 effectively founded the Italian muscle-naked category and stayed in production until about 2005 alongside the later 910 and 989. Hallmarks include the round die-cast headlight cowl, triple under-seat exhaust and Marzocchi forks with radial Brembo calipers.
Today the 750 is a collector's pick and a fan favourite for early-2000s Italian design. It is not a comfortable tourer: a hard seat, sharp riding position and aggressive throttle make it best for Sunday rides on B-roads. The four spins eagerly above 6,000 rpm but needs to be fully warm before it pulls cleanly. Period rivals were the Aprilia Tuono 1000R, Ducati Monster S4 and Triumph Speed Triple 955i. A complete service book showing valve-clearance and chain-lube intervals is essential; spare parts are scarce and Dutch specialists are limited to a handful of dealers.

What to check before buying
- Request the 6,000 km valve-clearance check records; the F4 head has tight shim stacks
- Inspect the stator and rectifier; old MV electrics commonly melt their connectors
- Test cold-start idle; early EFI maps cause stumble below 3,000 rpm
- Examine the under-seat exhaust for heat damage and weld cracking; replacements are scarce and pricey
- Check chain set, swingarm bolts and engine cases for oil leaks; chains stretch quickly
