About the Mv Agusta 125
The MV Agusta 125 is the historic 125cc racing and sport motorcycle with which MV Agusta dominated the 125cc class of the FIM Road Racing World Championship in the 1950s and 1960s. The engine is a 124 cc single, initially monoalbero (SOHC), later bialbero (DOHC), with sophisticated rear suspension geometry and a cylinder tuned for maximum power output at race rpm. MV Agusta won numerous world championship titles in the 125cc class. The road-going variant, the 125 Sport Competizione, was available to riders who wanted the race machine on the street.
The MV Agusta 125 today is exclusively a high-value collector's piece. Original examples, especially the bialbero versions, are traded at international auctions for figures in the tens to hundreds of thousands of euros. Technically they still run, but restoration and maintenance require specialist knowledge and spares are almost impossible to source. For anyone who treasures Italy's grand prix racing heritage, the MV Agusta 125 is an indispensable icon.

What to check before buying
- Check the authenticity of original parts; many examples are partially replica-built or carry non-original engine components.
- Inspect the aluminium alloy of the engine block and crankcase for age-related micro-cracking.
- Verify parts availability for any planned repair in advance; original components are rare and expensive.
- Inspect the carburettor needle bearings for wear; a worn carburettor directly affects running behaviour.
