Years
1984 - 1993
The 1000 Le Mans succeeded the 850 series with the 949cc big-block V-twin, more torque and the familiar Tonti sporting basis. It is a separate family from the earlier 850 Le Mans; when buying, check the year, fairing type and condition of shaft-drive and brake components carefully.
The Moto Guzzi 1000 Le Mans is an air-cooled classic sportbike powered by a transverse 90° V-twin displacing 949 cc, produced from 1984 to 1993 in the Le Mans IV (1984-1988) and Le Mans V (1988-1993) versions. The engine is a direct evolution of the celebrated 850 Le Mans and was offered with a half-fairing, Dell'Orto carburettors, and Moto Guzzi's characteristic shaft-drive system. Peak power is approximately 80 hp.
The 1000 Le Mans is a classic sportbike for riders who value Italian character and hand-built quality. The handling is honest and communicative, the riding position sporty but not extreme. The shaft drive eliminates chain maintenance but the characteristic torque reaction when opening and closing the throttle is noticeable. It competes in the vintage segment with the Ducati 900 SS and Laverda 1000. An iconic machine in Moto Guzzi heritage.
