About the Ktm 890 Adventure
The KTM 890 Adventure is the evolution of the 790 Adventure, offering from 2021 onwards a capable middleweight adventure built around the 889 cc LC8c parallel-twin. With around 105 hp and 100 Nm it is less brutal than the 1290 Super Adventure but more balanced off-road. Standard kit includes cornering ABS, lean-sensitive traction control, four ride modes and a TFT display with smartphone connectivity. A low-slung tank, 21/18-inch wheels on the 'R' version and an aluminium subframe make it suitable for long touring as well as unpaved roads. From 2024 it received a revision with updated tuning and improved electronics.
The target rider is the adventure owner who finds the 1,300 cc class too heavy for long off-road stages but the 390 class too restrictive. At around 196 kg dry and a 830 mm seat (R version 880 mm), it is manageable for a wide audience. The riding position is upright, the bars are wide, the centre of gravity sits low thanks to tank placement. Direct rivals are the Yamaha Tenere 700, Suzuki V-Strom 800 DE, Honda Transalp XL750 and Triumph Tiger 900.
