Years2019–present
The current 690 Enduro R has the 693 cc LC4 with modern electronics and WP XPLOR suspension. It suits riders wanting genuine off-road reserve with registration; high seat and off-road wear require a critical test ride.

Years2014–2018
The middle series gains the developed LC4 and modern injection while remaining a tall light single for road and dirt. It is stronger and more refined; suspension and service history remain decisive.
690 cc · 67 hp · 1 cyl.
Years2009–2013
The first 690 Enduro R uses the earlier LC4 single and a raw lightweight road-enduro concept. Off-road use is often intensive: check bearings, fork service, chain set and documented valve maintenance.
654 cc · 63 hp · 1 cyl.
The KTM 690 Enduro R is a road-registered enduro motorcycle that combines competition-motorcycle performance with street usability. The liquid-cooled 693 cc SOHC single-cylinder produces 45 kW (60 hp) and weighs around 158 kg ready to ride. Continuously developed over more than a decade, it is the benchmark for large single-cylinder road-legal enduro machines. The WP XPLOR suspension and electronic TPS throttle deliver crisp response on both road and light trail.
The 690 Enduro R targets adventure riders who want to mix light off-road, forest tracks, and motorway riding without committing to a heavy adventure middleweight. The focused geometry and low weight give a direct, involving feel. The 880 mm seat height is challenging for shorter riders. It competes with the Honda CRF300L Rally and Husqvarna FE 501.
Check valve clearances; the single-cylinder has an aggressive cam profile and requires valve inspection every 15,000 km; missed services lead to expensive engine repairs.
Inspect oil pressure and the cooling system for leaks; the 690 has a specific oil circulation cycle; dry starting after long storage can cause wear.
Check the WP XPLOR fork for oil seal leakage; WP suspension requires periodic servicing, especially after heavy off-road use.
Verify chain and sprocket condition; off-road use accelerates wear significantly.
Check the battery and electrics for cold-start problems; the high-compression single demands a strong battery at low temperatures.
