About the Ktm 400 LC 4
The KTM 400 LC4 is a light, durable single from the classic LC4 family. Depending on year and specification it was sold as an enduro or road-legal dual sport, using a liquid-cooled four-stroke, five speeds and a tall riding position. Output is modest beside later LC4 models, but direct response, simple engineering and low weight suit rural roads and unpaved use. Specifications and components differ meaningfully by production year.
Verify VIN, engine number, registration status and exact designation before comparing specifications. Ask about oil and filter changes, valve clearances, water pump, cam chain and any crankshaft or balancer work. Start it completely cold and watch for smoke, heavy mechanical noise and uneven idle. Inspect airbox and intake for dust, radiators and cases for impacts, and frame and subframe for cracks. Check steering-head, swingarm and wheel bearings, fork seals and rear shock. On supermoto conversions, wheels, brakes, gearing and homologation should be demonstrably correct.
