About the Ktm 150 SX
The KTM 150 SX is a high-performance motocross bike for the 150cc two-stroke class, introduced in 2009. The 144cc two-stroke engine (marketed as 150cc) combines the handling agility of a 125cc with a substantially broader power range, giving the rider a more usable power curve without the extra weight of a 250cc four-stroke. KTM positioned the 150 SX as the ideal compromise for competitive riders who want the light handling of a small two-stroke with more punch than the 125 SX.
The KTM 150 SX is intended for ambitious motocross riders actively competing. Due to its demanding character and need for frequent rebuilds, it is not a beginner's motorcycle. It competes with the Husqvarna TC150 and is popular as an alternative to the YZ125 for riders seeking slightly more power.

What to check before buying
- Check cylinder heads and pistons for wear; two-strokes require frequent top-end rebuilds depending on riding intensity.
- Inspect clutch packs for wear; competition use wears the clutch significantly faster than normal riding.
- Check the power valve for carbon build-up and free movement; a stuck valve causes significant power loss.
- Verify fork and shock absorber service history; competition bikes are heavily loaded and require regular suspension maintenance.
