About the Kawasaki Z 7 Hybrid
The Kawasaki Z7 Hybrid is the world's first series-production hybrid motorcycle, introduced in 2024. The drivetrain pairs a 451cc parallel twin petrol engine with an electric motor for a combined system output of around 60 kW (82 hp). In the special e-Boost mode the electric motor provides additional torque during acceleration, while low-speed all-electric riding is also possible. Kerb weight is around 221 kg, slightly more than a conventional naked bike in this class.
The Z7 Hybrid targets riders who want innovative technology combined with the direct character of a naked bike. The hybrid system is primarily aimed at fuel consumption reduction and EV riding in urban areas; long electric-only range is not its main purpose. It has no direct rival in the production motorcycle market.

What to check before buying
- As the first hybrid motorcycle, long-term reliability data is completely unknown; always ask about software updates and recall status.
- Check the battery pack condition via the onboard diagnostics; hybrid batteries degrade under improper use or deep discharge.
- Inspect the charging port and cable for correct operation; this is an additional wear item compared to conventional bikes.
- Ask about the hybrid system warranty status when buying used; warranty transfer can be complex.
- Check for specific maintenance requirements for the electrical system; certified service points may be limited in availability.
