About the Kawasaki Versys 1100
Introduced for 2025, the Kawasaki Versys 1100 replaces the Versys 1000 with a bored-out 1,099 cc inline-four derived from the Z1000 family. It produces around 99 kW (135 hp) and peak torque of about 113 Nm at relatively low rpm, managed by a Bosch IMU electronics package: cornering ABS, three ride modes, and on the SE, Showa Skyhook semi-active suspension. A 21-litre tank, KECS suspension on top trims and dual TFT plus head-up controls position it firmly in the comfort-touring segment.
The Versys 1100 targets solo and two-up touring riders who want sport-bike drivetrain feel with upright ergonomics and serious luggage capability. Direct rivals are the Suzuki V-Strom 1050DE, Yamaha Tracer 9 GT+, Honda NT1100 and BMW S 1000 XR; unlike a true adventure bike (KTM 1290, Triumph Tiger 1200) the Versys 1100 stays firmly tarmac-focused.

What to check before buying
- Confirm the Showa Skyhook/KECS system (SE) initialises without TFT errors; repairs are expensive.
- On early 2025 examples, ask whether factory software updates and recalls have been carried out.
- Inspect headers and fork lowers for stone-chip corrosion.
- Check the regulator/rectifier; heavy touring electronics can shorten its life.
- Ask about the 24,000 km valve-clearance check and the invoice; the fairing must come off.
