2019-2024 Versys 1000 SE
GenerationThis 2019-2024 SE pairs the 1,043 cc four-cylinder with KECS electronic suspension, TFT instrumentation and cruise control. Grand Tourer or Tourer packs add luggage/accessories rather than a separate technical generation; match this row only to an explicit Versys 1000 SE.
About the Kawasaki Versys 1000 SE
The Kawasaki Versys 1000 SE is the premium sport-touring version of the fourth-generation Versys 1000, sold from 2019 through 2024. It combines a 1,043 cc inline four with an upright riding position, 17-inch wheels and KECS electronic suspension using Showa Skyhook technology. It is a road-focused adventure tourer, not an off-road motorcycle. The SE is identified by its electronic suspension and expanded comfort and rider-assistance equipment; panniers and a Grand Tourer pack are accessories, not a different engine or power level.
For riders covering long distances, its 21-litre tank, adjustable screen and relaxed ergonomics make it a mature alternative to sport tourers. The engine produces 88 kW and is not A2-compatible. On a used SE, test the dash, electronic suspension, cruise control and every ride mode rather than relying on mileage alone. Do not treat an advert saying only ‘Versys 1000’ as an SE: base and S versions do not automatically carry the SE hardware.

What to check before buying
- Test every KECS/Showa Skyhook setting at rest and on a ride; check for error codes, leaks and a clear change between damping modes.
- Check the TFT display, handlebar switches, cruise control and ride modes in full; electronic-control repairs cost more than routine servicing.
- Inspect brake discs, monobloc calipers and forks for corrosion, pulsing and uneven wear, especially on bikes used year-round.
- Check the screen mechanism, hand guards, pannier racks and luggage mounts for cracks or bent parts after a tip-over or overload.
- Match VIN, trim and suspension to the original SE specification; a Versys 1000 or S with accessories is not automatically an SE.
