About the Husqvarna SM 450
The Husqvarna SM 450 is a light, sharp supermoto with a liquid-cooled four-stroke single and competition-oriented suspension and brakes. Road-legal versions combine rapid steering and strong Brembo brakes with lighting and registration, although servicing remains largely hour based. Low weight and direct engine response make it intense on short, twisting rides; motorway comfort, range and passenger use are limited. Specifications changed by year, with several engine updates during Italian ownership.
Verify VIN, engine code, registration and that it is genuinely an SM 450 rather than a converted enduro. Ask about operating hours, oil and filter intervals, valve clearances, cam chain, piston, crankshaft and who performed rebuilds. Start cold and check smoke, mechanical noise, hot restarting and injection or carburation. Inspect airbox for dust, radiators and cases for impacts, and frame, subframe and wheel rims for damage. Check fork seals, rear shock, steering head and swingarm. Brake discs must run true. Exhaust, ECU and airbox should be correctly matched and homologated.
