About the Honda CRF 300
The Honda CRF300L was introduced in 2021 as the successor to the CRF250L, representing the entry level of Honda's dual-sport lineup. The 286 cc single-cylinder four-stroke engine produces around 27 hp at a riding weight of just 143 kg, that combination makes it highly manageable on technical trails and narrow roads. The suspension travel is generous enough for firm dirt tracks while remaining suitable for daily commuting. A 21-inch front wheel and 18-inch rear tyre are optimised for off-road traction. A CRF300 Rally variant is also available, with a taller windscreen, larger tank, and slightly more touring-oriented equipment.
The CRF300L is ideal for riders who are new to off-road riding or who want a lightweight commuter that can venture off tarmac occasionally. The 875 mm seat height and low weight are accessible, though loose terrain still requires some experience. Competitors include the Yamaha WR300F, KTM 300 EXC, and Royal Enfield Himalayan. In the city, fuel consumption of around 27 km/l is a strong argument; on the motorway, peak engine power is a limiting factor.

What to check before buying
- Check the exhaust end can for damage near the footpeg area; the low-mounted muffler is vulnerable during off-road use.
- Check the fork and shock seals for wear; off-road use accelerates seal degradation.
- Check the service history is up to date; the high-revving single requires valve inspection every 12,000 km.
- Check the chain and sprockets for wear on bikes with extensive off-road use.
