1929 WR 750 supercharged
GenerationThe early WR 750 documented by BMW Classic: a 735 cc OHV flat twin with supercharger, three gears and shaft drive. It is a works-specific racing and record machine; later WR developments and rebuilt examples need separate documentation.
About the Bmw WR 750
The BMW WR 750 is a genuine BMW works racing and record motorcycle from 1929, not an R 75 road bike and not a modern 750 cc BMW. WR denotes the works racer. BMW used the machine for speed records and national and international races, with Ernst Henne among its record riders. The WR 750 has a 735 cc OHV flat twin with supercharger, three gears and shaft drive.
The technical reference here is the early 1929 configuration documented by BMW Classic. The works machines evolved during their racing career, so later record figures or rebuilt museum machines must not be used as standard WR 750 specifications without a source. This is not a regular sales motorcycle with normal parts or registration logic. On a historic machine, provenance, frame and engine numbers, supercharger construction and exact configuration are essential. The 1929 WR 750 is specialist motorsport heritage, not a classic road bike for ordinary used-market comparison.

What to check before buying
- Verify provenance, documentation and numbering; this is a works race and record motorcycle, not a regular production machine.
- Have the supercharger, drivetrain and engine internals assessed only by a specialist with demonstrable pre-war BMW racing experience.
- Check whether engine, gearbox, shaft drive and frame belong to the same historical configuration; later record and museum versions differ.
- Inspect drum brakes, cables, rims and tyres as historic components, and ride only within their demonstrable condition and age.
- Do not treat a reconstructed or restored example as unchanged 1929 specification without complete restoration documentation.
