Years2025–present
The R 1300 R is BMW's modern roadster with the 1300 cc boxer, 107 kW and shaft drive. It centres the engine without a large fairing and offers strong torque for daily and sporting use; its performance and short wheelbase still demand mature throttle control.

The BMW R 1300 R is a naked roadster introduced in 2024 as the successor to the R 1250 R. The 1300 cc boxer twin produces 145 hp, a significant step up from its predecessor. BMW has refined the ShiftCam technology and the engine benefits from a characteristically low centre of gravity thanks to the horizontally opposed cylinders. Telelever front suspension and Paralever rear suspension deliver the typical BMW riding character: stable and predictable, yet never dull.
The R 1300 R targets riders who want a powerful, stylish everyday motorcycle without the full fairing of a sportbike. The bold unfaired styling and 145 hp make it a serious performance machine. Compared with the Ducati Monster 937 or KTM 1290 Super Duke R the BMW delivers more touring character and better low-down performance. ABS, riding modes and traction control are standard.
Check the service history for timely oil changes and valve clearance checks; the new boxer requires BMW-specific expertise.
Inspect the Telelever front suspension for hydraulic bearing leaks and the linkage bearing for play.
Check the exhaust silencer for corrosion around the clamp fixings; the new exhaust routing is more susceptible to water accumulation.
Look for tyre wear; the high torque and weight accelerate rear tyre consumption with spirited riding.
Check the digital rider aids for correct operation; as a recent model, software updates via the dealer are recommended.
