R 12 S

The BMW R 12 S is a Heritage special model from model year 2025, created as a modern homage to the BMW R 90 S. It is technically based on the R 12 nineT, but it is a distinct factory specification: the R 12 S adds a cockpit fairing with tinted screen, Lava Orange paint, a brushed aluminium tank, a single seat, 17-inch Option 719 wire wheels and far richer standard equipment. Its air/oil-cooled 1,170 cc boxer produces 80 kW (109 hp) and 115 Nm through a six-speed gearbox and shaft drive, at a 220 kg kerb weight.

This is not a bare custom platform like the R 12 nineT, but a fully equipped retro roadster for riders who want classic sporting shape with modern safety and comfort. ABS Pro, traction control, cruise control, heated grips, Hill Start Control, Headlight Pro and Shift Assistant Pro are standard. On a used example, verify the individual options: the digital display, tyre-pressure monitoring and anti-theft alarm remained factory options. Its 795 mm seat and 16-litre tank suit day rides and winding touring routes; it is less practical for heavily loaded travel than a GS or RT.
