Years
2008 - 2012
Despite its name, this generation uses the F 800 family's 798 cc parallel twin, detuned for smooth and accessible performance. On adverts without the GS suffix, two exhaust headers distinguish it from the single-cylinder bike.
Years
1993 - 2000
The first F 650 uses the 652 cc carburetted Rotax single. Funduro is the taller dual-sport version; the ST has lower suspension and more road-oriented ergonomics.
The BMW F 650 is a single-cylinder motorcycle family that launched in 1993 as BMW's first single since the R 27 of the 1960s, and the first BMW with chain final drive. The original F 650 (Funduro) and F 650 ST (Strada) used a 652 cc Rotax single with four valves, dual overhead cams and a water-cooled cylinder, producing 35 kW (48 hp). Production ran until 2008 with variants including the F 650 CS Scarver (2002-2005, with belt drive and a fuel-tank stowage compartment), F 650 GS (1999-2007) and the more off-road-oriented F 650 GS Dakar.
The F 650 was deliberately aimed at beginners, shorter riders and urban use. A low seat (775-820 mm depending on variant), manageable wet weight around 180 kg, simple maintenance and BMW reliability made it a popular choice for riding schools and first-bike buyers. Rivals were the Suzuki DR 650, Honda XL 650 V Transalp (smaller sibling) and Kawasaki KLR 650. On the Dutch used market the F 650 GS is the most commonly listed variant, with the Dakar trading at a clear premium.
A used Bmw F 650 costs €1,950 on average. Most cost €1,240 to €2,290. This is based on 21 motorcycles for sale now.
