RR 525 (2005–2009)
GenerationThe 510cc RR 525 from the first Beta RR era, with a carburetted engine, six speeds and electric plus kick start. Do not confuse it with the 2010–2014 RR 520 using Beta's own engine.
About the Beta RR 525
The Beta RR 525 is the large four-stroke enduro from the first RR era, demonstrably supplied from 2005 through 2009. Despite its model name, it uses a 510cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine with four valves, a six-speed gearbox, a Keihin FCR-MX 39 carburettor, and both electric and kick start. This is the KTM-RFS-era RR 525, not the later in-house Beta RR 520 of 2010–2014, nor an RR 498 or RR 480.
The RR 525 suits an experienced rider seeking substantial torque and serious off-road ability. Its weight and power delivery make a careful test ride and credible service history essential; on an enduro, mileage says less than operating hours, oil and filter changes, and chassis condition. Check the identification plate and frame number against the correct model year, as parts and advert catalogues sometimes use the RR 525 name broadly. An original, well-maintained bike matters more here than accessories or cosmetic changes.

What to check before buying
- Start the engine cold and hot and test both electric and kick start; listen for unusual mechanical noise and assess a stable idle.
- Ask for documented oil and filter changes. This engine uses a split lubrication system with two oil pumps; also inspect cases, lines and drain plugs for leaks.
- Inspect the Keihin FCR-MX 39 carburettor, airbox and intake rubber for dirt ingress, leaks and improvised jetting or adjustment work.
- Check radiators, coolant hoses, water-pump area and the six-speed gearbox under load; damage and neglected service often show here on heavily used enduro bikes.
