About the Beta Evo 290
The Beta EVO 290 is a two-stroke trials motorcycle from the first EVO generation. The EVO line replaced the REV range in 2009; the 290 cc two-stroke was the larger version above the 250 and was later replaced by the EVO 300. It is a specialised trials motorcycle for very low-speed control and light weight, not an enduro for long rides.
Verify year, displacement and engine number carefully: an EVO 290 is not the same machine as an EVO 250, 300, 300 4T or later Factory version. When buying, inspect frame and footrests, cases and skid plate, cooling system, clutch, gearbox, suspension, wheels and all trials-specific controls.

What to check before buying
- Confirm EVO 290, two-stroke and year; do not confuse it with an EVO 250, 300 or 300 4T.
- Check cylinder, piston/top end, crank noise and cold starting for wear or poor adjustment.
- Test clutch and gearbox for drag, slip and correct selection at low speed.
- Inspect radiator, hoses and water pump for leaks and fall damage.
- Check frame, footrest brackets, cases, skid plate, suspension, rims and spokes for trials damage.
