About the Benelli Tornado Naked T
The Benelli Tornado Naked T (TNT) is the streetfighter version of the Tornado triple, built from 2004 to around 2014. Under the angular naked styling sits a liquid-cooled 1131 cc inline triple with DOHC and 12 valves, producing around 100 kW (135 hp) and 110 Nm in standard form. Later R and R160 variants pushed up to 160 hp. The trellis-style steel frame, often powder-coated in vivid red, and the trio of underseat exhausts give the bike an unmistakable look. Alongside the 1131 cc there was also an 899 cc version with the same layout.
The TNT was Benelli's answer to streetfighter heavyweights such as the Triumph Speed Triple and Aprilia Tuono. At around 220 kg dry and with a wide, sporty bar it is not a middleweight but a serious sport-streetfighter. The riding feel is characterful: linear power delivery, a buzzy triple soundtrack and direct fork action. Maintenance and parts demand commitment - parts lead times are long and the electronics are temperamental. It targets riders who value character and exclusivity over reliability charts.

What to check before buying
- Ask for service history from an experienced Benelli specialist - parts lead times are long and expertise scarce
- Check the electronics - reports of headlight relays, speedometer and bar switches failing
- Inspect the triple exhausts for corrosion and loose silencer gaskets
- Test the hydraulic clutch - master cylinders can leak; lever feel is heavy on Italian-built bikes
- Check Brembo brakes for sticking after winter storage and confirm hose replacement after 5+ years
