The Aprilia Scarabeo is a series of large-wheel scooters from Italian manufacturer Aprilia, produced from 1993 to approximately 2012. The Scarabeo set itself apart from conventional scooters through larger wheels (16 inch front and rear on later models), a more motorcycle-like riding posture, and a wide engine range from 50 to 500 cc. The larger models (200, 250, 300, and 500 cc) use a single or twin-cylinder four-stroke engine of Rotax or Piaggio origin.
The Scarabeo appeals to riders who want scooter convenience combined with more stable handling than small-wheel scooters offer. The upright riding position, added weight, and larger wheels make it less manoeuvrable in city traffic than a 125 cc twist-and-go, but noticeably more stable on the motorway. It is popular as a daily commuter. Competitors include the Kymco Xciting and the Yamaha X-Max.
A used Aprilia Scarabeo costs €1,525 on average. Most cost €1,345 to €1,705. This is based on 3 motorcycles for sale now.
