1937-1940 MF 1
GenerationThe Adler MF 1 is the 98 cc Sachs-powered MF from 1937–1940. It belongs to the pre-war MF1/MF2/MF3 lightweights, not the earlier 74 cc MF variant or the post-war M 100.
About the Adler MF 1
The Adler MF 1 is a pre-war lightweight motorcycle from the MF series. It uses a 98 cc Sachs two-stroke in a reinforced bicycle-derived frame and was built from 1937 alongside the MF2 and MF3. Keep it separate from the earlier 74 cc MF models of 1930–1932 and from Adler's post-war M series. On an example, check the original Sachs engine, frame number, tank, drive, brakes and the safety of wheels and tyres.

What to check before buying
- Check that Sachs engine, frame and type plate belong together; pre-war lightweights are often assembled from parts.
- Check the tank, fuel tap, carburettor and lines for rust, leaks and blockage.
- Inspect crankshaft, cylinder, piston and exhaust for wear and a safe two-stroke setup.
- Check chain, sprockets, drum brakes, spoked wheels, bearings and tyres for safe condition.
- Inspect ignition, wiring and lighting carefully; old insulation and non-original modifications need extra attention.
