About the Yamaha YZ 360
The Yamaha YZ360 is Yamaha's short-lived 360cc open-class motocrosser of 1974–1975. Its air-cooled two-stroke single and light motocross chassis are specific to this model; it is not a YZ490 and must not be populated with that bike's engine or chassis data.
Assess a YZ360 as a classic motocross project. Measure compression and check crankshaft, cylinder, carburettor and premix system. Inspect frame, drum brakes, fork, Monocross/twinshock parts and wheels for hard circuit damage. Exact model code and original tank/exhaust matter for restoration value.

What to check before buying
- Measure compression and listen for crank and piston noise; large air-cooled two-strokes are wear-sensitive.
- Check premix, carburettor, intake rubber and air filter for sand ingestion or incorrect setup.
- Inspect frame, steering stops, footrests and crankcase area for cracks or poorly repaired motocross damage.
- Check drum brakes, fork, shocks and wheel bearings for seizure, leaks or play.
- Verify YZ360A/B code and originality; do not use a YZ490 parts list as reference.
