About the Vespa Sprint 125
The modern Vespa Sprint 125 arrived in 2014 as the more sporting-looking city scooter alongside the Primavera. Its rectangular headlamp, compact steel monocoque and 12-inch wheels create a distinctive profile. The initial 3V engine gave way around 2016/2017 to the quieter, more economical fuel-injected i-get single; both use a continuously variable transmission.
The Sprint 125 is light, agile and suitable for an A1 licence, but its bodywork makes parking damage expensive. Check drive-belt and roller maintenance, cold starting, the front suspension and corrosion around seams and the floor. The separate Sprint S is principally an equipment and colour variant; this page covers the mechanical Sprint 125 generations. What to check before buying
- Verify that the drive belt, rollers and CVT were serviced on schedule; judder or rattling when moving off indicates wear.
- Inspect the steel body, floor and seams for dents, paint damage and early corrosion, particularly after winter use.
- Check the front suspension assembly, wheel bearings and steering head for play or misalignment after kerb or parking damage.
- Test cold starting, idle, injection and battery condition because short urban journeys can aggravate starting and charging issues.
- Inspect brakes and tyres for age and uneven wear; a low odometer reading does not guarantee recent consumables.
