The S 125 is the square-styled small-frame Vespa based on the LX, with a square lamp and 124 cc automatic four-stroke. It is light and city-focused; S equipment is mainly styling, while engine and CVT maintenance determine ownership.
The Vespa S 125 is the sport-styled, more austere sibling of the LX, launched in 2007. Piaggio paired the LX's slim small-frame body with a square headlight, a flat saddle with white stitching and chrome accents, a nod to the 1970s Sprint and Super. The 124 cc Leader engine (later i-get) produces around 11 hp through a CVT automatic, giving a top speed near 90 km/h. Both wheels are 11 inch with a telescopic front fork and a single rear shock; ABS only appeared late in the production run.
The S 125 targets city riders who want the recognisable Vespa look in a lighter, more agile body without the price of a GTS. The narrow waist makes filtering through traffic easy and the 770 mm seat suits shorter riders. Under-seat storage is sufficient for a jet-style helmet but not always a full-face. Period rivals included the Honda SH125i and Yamaha X-Max 125; against those the Vespa won on styling but lost on storage and top speed.
