Generations and editions
Features and handling differ by generation. Use this overview to find the right version.
Years
2021 - present
i-get Euro 5 (2021–current)
GenerationThe Euro 5 version retains the 50cc i-get base with further emissions calibration and modern electrical equipment. It is the quietest and most economical generation, with limited but moped-compliant output.
Years
2018 - 2020
i-get Euro 4 (2018–2020)
GenerationThe i-get engine introduced electronic fuel injection, three valves and quieter, more economical daily use. Euro 4 or i-get separates it from the stronger four-valve engine and later Euro 5 tune.
Years
2013 - 2017
4T 4V (2013–2017)
GenerationThe first modern Primavera 50 uses an air-cooled four-stroke with four valves and carburetion or early injection depending on market. It produces more power than later emissions-focused i-get versions.
About the Vespa Primavera 50
The Vespa Primavera 50 is the smallest scooter in the current Vespa lineup, introduced in 2013 as the replacement for the LX 50. Powered by an air-cooled 50cc four-stroke single-cylinder engine producing around 3.3 hp, it falls into the AM licence category. The self-supporting steel body, round headlight and classic Vespa proportions make it immediately recognisable. Piaggio also produced the Primavera 50 in a hybrid electric variant (Elettrica).
The Primavera 50 targets riders from age 16 upwards and urban commuters who prioritise style and brand recognition alongside functionality. The light weight (around 100 kg), flat footboard and generous under-seat storage make it practical for city use. It competes with the Honda SH50 and Piaggio Liberty 50. Suitable for beginners, though the small 11-inch wheels require some adjustment on cobblestones and tram tracks.

What to check before buying
- Check carburettor tuning and blockages; two-stroke experience does not apply here; riding style influences fuel mixture on the four-stroke engine.
- Inspect the CVT (variator) for roller wear and belt tension; the 10,000 km service interval is frequently skipped.
- Examine paintwork and chrome details for rust and damage; the steel body is vulnerable to urban impact damage.
- Test front and rear brake balance; the standard rear drum brake performs less effectively in wet conditions.
- Verify the odometer has not been tampered with; small city scooters are used intensively and mileage reflects wear accurately.
