About the Vespa GT
The Vespa GT (Gran Turismo) is a maxi-scooter from Piaggio powered by a liquid-cooled four-stroke engine. Offered in two variants, the GT125 (125 cc) and GT200 (198 cc), both were introduced in 2003. The GT distinguishes itself from classic Vespa scooters through its larger proportions, higher top speed and more comfortable behaviour on longer distances. The steel monocoque chassis and classic Vespa silhouette are retained.
The Vespa GT targets riders who want Vespa styling combined with more practical capability than a small city scooter provides. The GT200 is powerful enough for motorway use and offers generous underseat storage. The ergonomics are relaxed and well suited to daily commuting. It competed with the Honda SH150, Yamaha Majesty 125 and Kymco People 200.

What to check before buying
- Check the liquid cooling system for leaks at the hoses and radiator; an early maintenance issue on neglected examples.
- Inspect the variator (drive belt and rollers) for wear; maxi-scooters see intensive use and belt services are frequently skipped.
- Check the steel chassis for rust on the underside and around the engine sub-frame.
- Examine brake cables and discs for wear and corrosion; the GT200 is heavier than classic Vespas, placing more load on the brake system.
- Verify that the lights and electrics function correctly; electrical faults appear occasionally on older examples.
