2003-2005 inline four
GenerationThe Daytona 600 is Triumph's 599cc inline-four supersport from 2003-2005. A 2004 example with original colour or accessories remains the same technical generation; focus on injection, valve-clearance and cooling maintenance rather than cosmetic parts.
About the Triumph Daytona 600
The Triumph Daytona 600 is a short-lived British supersport with a 599cc liquid-cooled inline four, fuel injection and aluminium twin-spar frame. It was built as an alternative to Japanese 600cc supersports, combining high revs with a distinctive Triumph engine. The Daytona 600 is not the later three-cylinder Daytona 675; parts, service data and performance belong to the four-cylinder 600.
It suits a rider seeking a less common 600cc sport bike for road riding and occasional track use. The riding position is sporty and the output needs experience, but a good example remains usable on the road. At purchase, documented maintenance matters more than accessories: a Power Commander, aftermarket silencer or carbon parts say nothing about the condition of injection, valve clearances, cooling or chassis.

What to check before buying
- Check cold starting, idle and throttle response for injection, sensor or wiring faults.
- Ask for evidence of valve-clearance, plug, oil and coolant servicing; a 600cc inline four is often ridden at high rpm.
- Inspect radiator, hoses and water pump for leaks, and confirm the cooling fan cuts in.
- Test clutch, six-speed gearbox and chain set under load, and check play at wheels, steering head and swingarm.
- Inspect bodywork, steering stops, fork legs and engine covers for signs of crash or track damage.
